SA Fashion Week 2004

Swan Flamingo! 2004 was a big year for us. We printed our own designer custom textiles for the first time. Our unique swan and flamingo designs in metallic and neon inks were embedded onto high quality microfibres for our lingerie range. We also made our very first underwire bra! This lingerie collection was so successful that it landed us Fred Segal in Los Angeles as a retail stockist. This collection sold out within a month.

The jewellery for our 2004 show was a joint venture between Ruby and Ashanti Gold - it was a first for our gold plated jewellery and custom tiaras featuring our swan & flamingo motifs.

Our influences for this collection were vastly eclectic and included 60's pop colour ways and fringed Flapper dresses from the 1920's. We launched our fringed beaded earrings in 2004 which are handmade by the Ruby beading circle with fairness, integrity and care. We still produce these signature pieces to this day and you can buy them here:

2004 also featured our Missoni inspired couture beadwork. Using Xhosa beadwork techniques we were amped to create intricate fringed beaded tops in zig zag layered colour ways.

Look out for our glamorous RUBY swimwear which appeared here.
